Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association Endowed Scholarship
The Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association was founded in 1887 to provide educational programs for cranberry growers and to advance the interests of cranberry farming in Wisconsin. Today the organization continues its education and advocacy mission on behalf of the state’s largest fruit crop. Because of its mission, the WSCGA strongly supports education at all levels including post secondary programs such as those provided through technical colleges in the state.
Since 1991, the association has endowed scholarship funds for students at UW Madison, UW Stevens Point, and those attending Wisconsin’s Technical Colleges. Funds for the endowments are raised through an annual golf outing and sporting clay shoot. In 1997 and 1998 all proceeds from the two events were used to establish and enhance the fund at the WWTC Foundation.
The scholarships are awarded to students studying in an area related to cranberry production. The objective of the scholarship is to develop trained individuals who may seek a successful career in a field related to cranberry production.
