Shirley Lotze Endowed Scholarship
Shirley Lotze was a born teacher. She returned to college at a time when it was an exception rather than a rule, to earn her bachelor’s degree.
Shirley was an innovative person who was responsible for the development of food service programs at WWTC. She provided leadership in curriculum development for the programs on the local and state level. She was dedicated to teaching and demonstrated this by her willingness to help students understand procedures and how to implement them in the workplace. She always emphasized quality and work ethics. She took great pride in seeing graduates become successful in their chosen field.
Shirley loved to travel and see how foods were prepared and served in other parts of the country. In addition to tasting foods, she enjoyed flowers and visiting botanical gardens. She was an ardent gardener and nourished her profession and students with the same care she gave her plants.
Shirley was a lady who had definite goals and a keen sense of humor. She died September 13, 1992.
Shirley’s peers, former students, friends, work associates, and family honored her interest in the welfare of students by establishing this memorial scholarship.
