Monna Thompson Endowed Scholarship
Monna Thompson joined the faculty of WTC as an instructor in the Technical Nursing Program in 1972. She was appointed program head in 1975 and assistant chairperson for the Health Occupations Division in 1984. She retired for health reasons in February of 1988. Monna was very instrumental in developing and implementing a quality technical nursing program. She was an excellent instructor and demonstrated expertise as a professional nursing practitioner. Monna devoted many hours assisting students in reaching their educational objectives and was always concerned with their welfare. One of the graduates of the program recently made this comment: “Monna was an excellent teacher. She had an attitude of fairness and expectation. Her intelligence is admired!” On her retirement, the faculty of the Technical Nursing Program established an endowed scholarship in her name. The staff of WTC, peers, coworkers, graduates and friends contributed to the scholarship.
