Hope and Roy Kumm Endowed Scholarship

Hope and Roy Kumm Endowed Scholarship

Hope and Roy Kumm were active in shaping the direction and growth of Western. Roy served on the board of the college for more than 20 years and as president of the board for nine years. Hope was one of the original members of the Foundation Board of Trustees. Together they helped shape and assure the future of Western through their steadfast, enduring commitment of time, talents, and financial resources. They shared an abiding interest and concern for the well being of all students at the college. The scholarship was first established in 1973 in memory of Roy.

In 1997, Hope was the first to receive the Western Legacy Award in recognition of her significant, long-standing support and friendship to Western. In official correspondence Hope Kumm will always be listed with current members of the Foundation Board as an emeritus board member. Hope passed away in December of 1998. The legacy of service to the college continues through Roy and Hope’s daughter Gail (Kumm) Cleary, who currently serves on the Foundation Board and is pictured here.
