Fred Grant Scholarship for Automotive Technician Students
Fred Grant was born May 12, 1925, in Waseca, Minn., to Earl and Dora (Larson) Grant. Fred was married to Veronica Ronnenberg Dec. 7, 1943, in Winona, Minn.
He spent his entire life in the automotive industry as a mechanic and for over 50 years as a service adviser at Bob Burg Auto, retiring in 2015 at the age of 90. Fred and Veronica sponsored many Hmong families through Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities, and Hmong Mutual Assistance. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, watching all the wild animals and the eagles. He was loved by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed.
Fred was a true gentleman. He appreciated all that he had and led a modest life. Yet his generosity was overwhelming. He loved to work hard, as shown by his weathered hands and bear-like grip. Fred also played equally as hard, always being the life of many parties and the first to dance and often the last to leave.
This scholarship is created to encourage other automotive students to follow in his footsteps.
Fred “Joe” A. Grant, 91, of La Crosse passed Sunday, March 26, 2017.
